Growing up I remember Labor Day as a Holiday. You know the day that celebrates the contributions and accomplishments of the average worker. Now it is a SALE day. In our need to be the most sleep deprived, burnt out, productive country in the World the meaning has been lost.
Gone are the organizations that protect and stand up of workers. They have been replaced by the "OMG I have to work," "my job is going south," "the company needs me," brain washing.
If we just let go of some of the materialism. Really practice quality time (no TV, video games, cell phones, electronic devices of technology) talking and doing things with the family maybe the holidays would have meaning again.
But this will be the kick off of not just football season, but Halloween, which leads to Thanksgiving and of course Christmas. Run, Run, Run.
No wonder we are 41st in longevity in the World. I guess these are the "labors" that we celebrate in the 21st century.
