I recently was watching HBO and caught the new episode of "Assume the Position-201".I enjoyed the first installment and eagerly watched Mr Wuhl as he took a look at history as pop culture.
He referenced Prez Franklin Pierce. In fact Pierce was elected primarily due to a book written by his friend Nathaniel Hawthorne, the premier author of the day. Despite the fact that Pierce was a drunk, and very pro slavery.
As the program went on, it was established that our present Prez is a direct descendant of Pierce and has exhibited similar qualities. But as we all know-we will get through it.
All things go around. And since we do not learn from history, here it is again.
Will we ever learn?
