Fly away

Lady Bird Johnson, former First Lady passes at age 94.
She whistle-stopped, to raise support for LBJ's civil rights effort's, from Virginia to New Orleans on the Lady Bird Special, at first enduring catcalls and hostile placards ("Fly Away Black Bird") but the same soft tolerance she used on her husband she used on the southern crowds:
"In this country we have many viewpoints. You are entitled to yours. Right now I am entitled to mine." (Excellent expression for America's attitude today)
Lady Bird created a legacy through her passion for what the press called "beautification" and the legislation it produced. She had the billboards and junk yards banished from the federal highway rights-of-way; She was one of the first true environmentalists of our times.

President Bush isn't the only lame duck in our nation's capital. All 435 congressmen are up for re-election next year, and so are 34 of our senators. That's a total of 469 lame ducks, the way I see it.
For the record, there are 245 Democratic and 224 Republican lame ducks in Washington. And with the rising registration of Independents across the country, next year may be a bad season for lame ducks.
